System Installation: Software

The next objective was then to install the printer. The printer has both Ethernet and USB capabilities. My client asked me only install the printer on one PC for the time being so I used to the USB A-B cable provided with the printer to connect it up to the PC’s USB 2.0 port. From here it was just a case of installing the printer drivers from the CD provided and following an on-screen wizard. (See USB A-B cable below)

Following the successfully installation of the printer I installed Microsoft Office 2003 as my client requested.

First step was asking me to insert the product key as provided with the software

Next I had to enter my clients’ user information

Then I had to accept the EULA

My client and I came to the decision to go with the recommended installation, typical install

The next step was asking me to confirm where Office 2003 should run from, I chose My Computer

This screen was showing what files where being installed to the hard drive one by one

The setup was successfully, now my client had Office 2003 installed on his system

After I successfully installed Office 2003 I decided that the computer needed updating via the Microsoft Update page. I had to follow the Microsoft update instructions such as install new ActiveX controls (as this was the first time I ran the update module) to allow Microsoft to check our system for any required updates. Following this I had to select from a list of updates which ones I wanted to install. (See Microsoft Update running pictured below)
